Hypertension or high blood pressure
Hypertension or high blood pressure is an elevation in blood pressure. When blood pressure stays elevated, it puts stress on the circulatory system. Long-term elevated blood pressure, if left untreated and undetected can lead to serious problems such as stroke, kidney failure, and heart disease. Hypertension may be silent without any symptoms or may be associated with symptoms of headache or blurry vision. It is a risk factor for coronary artery disease. It is diagnosed by determination of blood pressure.
