Anxiety/emotional stress
Life situations that cause stress or strain upon one’s emotional makeup may have a relationship with heart disease. Conditions such as work-related pressures, job strain, and depression can have an effect on one’s underlying cardiac wellness. It is well known that acute mental stress, for example following a traumatic event such as the death of a loved one, can increase the risk for a cardiac event in that individual. Research has demonstrated there is a relationship between mental stress and cardiac arrhythmias that can result in cardiac death.
